The Kwame Nkrumah University of Science and Technology (KNUST) in Kumasi is by far the leading technical university in Ghana. In its courses, it will primarily emphasise the engineering/scientific aspects of renewable energies, such as calculation, design, installation, grid feed-in, etc. The innovative concept of practice- integrated study modules will ensure that these technical/scientific topics are covered. Through the innovative concept of practice-integrated study modules, these technical/scientific topics - oriented towards business realities - will be dealt with. This will take place in the existing Master Environmental Science and Master in Renewable Energy Technologies programmes, among others.

The new teaching modules will be linked to KNUST's Brew-Hammond Energy Centre. This was established to provide public and private stakeholders with training, research and advice on technology, policy and management in the energy sector.


University for Energy and Natural Resources

The University of Energy and Natural Resources (UENR) in Sunyani was established in 2011 to address the issues of energy and natural resources from the perspectives of economics, law, policy, management, science, technology and engineering. It will emphasise the economic and operational aspects of renewable energy in its courses, initially in the BSc. Renewable Engineering and MSc./PhD Sustainable Energy Management programmes. Here, too, the focus will be on addressing practice-relevant issues that are dealt with in the innovative study modules.
